COOKING

During the COVID-19 pandemic and now with the rising cost of living, people may not have their usual food supplies.  A number of chefs have produced cookbooks that help create wholesome food on a budget:

Jack Monroe (https://cookingonabootstrap.com/) who wrote a cookbook for food bank users is having a ‘Lock down Larder’ campaign on Twitter to give people ideas on what to cook with the limited ingredients they have at home.

Jack can be found on Twitter at  https://twitter.com/BootstrapCook  and the hashtag #JackMonroesLockdownLarder can be used to ask questions about what you can do with ingredients you have available.

Jack’s book ‘Tin Can Cook – 75 Simple Store-cupboard Recipes’ can be found in paperback or Kindle format.

Jamie Oliver has a new TV programme on Channel 4 called ‘Jamie: Keeping Cooking and Carry On’ (https://www.jamieoliver.com/recipes/category/books/keep-cooking-and-carry-on/). This will have lots of ideas for using up cupboard and freezer supplies, leftovers and how to swap ingredients and can be found on catch up TV.

Rebecca, Jackie and Jean are also happy to take requests from people needing ideas for what to cook with awkward store cupboard ingredients.
